The Roger and Phyllis Brooks Scholarship Fund

The Roger and Phyllis Brooks Scholarship will benefit a high school student within the Monadnock Regional School District from which all five Brooks children graduated. This annual scholarship will be awarded to a student who possesses the heart, character and determination to improve his or herself through education whether vocational training, military service, college education or other non-traditional opportunity. All beneficiaries will be chosen in cooperation with the MRHS school guidance program.

Award Recipients

2020

In this inaugural year, the recipient was chosen by the principal and awarded to a graduating senior from MRHS.

Alexis is joining the Army upon graduation and completed her boot camp last summer at the age of seventeen. She scored so high on her ASVAB that she will get her first choice of jobs— she has chosen to become a medic. She is very bright and positive and has persevered through challenges outside of school. Now that she is 18 years of age, she is out on her own and financially taking care of herself. She aced her honors and AP courses with all A's and B's and will take advantage of the Army program which pays for all her medical training. Her school guidance counselor believes she is on her way to great things and will surely be a doctor someday. Alexis is also an accomplished athlete, artist and musician. She demonstrates the tenacity and spirit that inspires great admiration. Her selection is a fitting tribute to the years of unselfish giving demonstrated by both Roger and Phyllis.
